Bring Your Dream into Reality: How to Take Control of Your Light by Joshua J. Warren

Taking the time to discover what we want to do is tough. With self-doubt, negative Nancy's and overall fear it's like the world wants us to stay uninformed and uninspired when it comes to realizing our purpose. We might feel encouraged one moment and then the next thing we know, BOOM, we're back at square one.

So how do we take this narrative and change it to one of "I want to do it. I think I can do it. I did it!?" The answer always lies at the beginning. When we decide that we are ready to take that step in uncovering who we are how we are going to utilize our passion, we have to start at ground zero. That's right! I said ground zero. This means that we have to reserve the time to take care of us first, so here are a few steps to help get you started in taking control of your light.

1. Have a Talk with Yourself

Many times people think that talking to yourself is "crazy." And yes maybe having a full blown dialogue with yourself may be a little out of the psychological norm, but it is beneficial to have serious conversations within yourself regularly. Taking the time to ask yourself deep rooted questions about who you are, what you want to do and what things are hindering you from receiving and doing are the types of things that can help get you started. You want to start to identify your truths which include the things that you like and don't like, the way that you want to live your life outside of other's expectations or societal norms and what is getting in the way of you achieving positive ground rather than negative. This helps you to uncover your true identity and allows you to take a stand in whatever and whoever that is. The reality is that the world receives whatever you give them and they are not allowed to ask to only receive a fraction of you. Therefore, once you decide who you are and what you have to offer, the world either accepts it or not in it's entirety. This is how you begin to unleash your power.

2. Affirm Yourself

Now that you have taken a stand in who you are and what you bring to the table, it is time to get rid of those negative ideologies that were pressed upon you. We are told that we have to look, act and think a particular way in order to achieve success, receive God's grace or be an upstanding citizen and that is untrue. Whereas we do want to ensure that we are always living a good life, it doesn't have to look a particular way. The beautiful fact is that we were created individually to be individuals, just like snowflakes. Each of us have our own quirks, talents, skills, swag and aesthetics that make us, Us. Getting rid of that negative beliefs that releasing that person that is trapped inside of us is bad is actually the first step towards walking in YOUR journey. When we identify what makes us us and tell ourselves that who we are and what we have to offer is more than good enough we take pride in those things. We begin to understand that we hold value in our differences rather than in our similarities. The universe wants each of us to play our role and it is impossible to play your role when you either hide it or try to learn someone else's. Affirming yourself is looking in the mirror and telling yourself that you are valuable, you are amazing, you are beautiful and will receive success your way. It is reminding yourself that you hold value because you were made by the Creator of the universe with the stuff of the stars and are meant to exist right now JUST the way you are in your entirety.

3. Deal with the Negativity

So of course all the negative doesn't go away overnight. You still have the people in your life that don't like who you really are. They may have plans for your life, your image, how you act, who you'll date, where you'll live and you choosing to live your truth may be difficult for them to accept. This is fine because it is their problem and not yours. The reality is we are met with people that just can't handle the fullness of who we are. They may want us to tone it down or change things but remember, the world receives what we give them in it's entirety. Sometimes we have internal negativity as well. We may think that we aren't good enough or that our gifts aren't truly gifts. We may harbor negative situations or use our circumstances to hold us captive in letting our light shine. We might be nervous or fearful and think that we won't be accepted but all of that is fear. We are worthy of positivity and positive circumstances. We've already began affirming ourselves, now it is important to push ourselves through the negative mumbo jumbo so that we can get to the sunshine on the other side. There is no way around the things that weigh us down. We can't sweep them under a rug and "get over it." We have to identify what those negative things are and deal with them head on. It's called confrontation and beyond popular belief, it doesn't always have to be bad. However, it is necessary to begin working through those things so that it is easier for our beautiful light to shine and be seen by the entire universe. Carrying negativity is just like throwing cloth on a lamp; it drowns out the light. But, when we work through our insecurities, push beyond our circumstances, get the help that we need, and distance ourselves from the negative Nancy's we remove that cloth so that our light is visible for all to see.

4. LET IT SHINE

This is the fun part! Now you get to show the world your stuff and guess what, somebody is going to like it! This is the part where we put action behind our dreams. We've identified who we are and what we bring to the world. We told ourselves that we can and are worthy enough to do it. We've began working through the things that are limiting us from realizing our sauce is magic and now all we have to do is package it up and sell it! We get to be creative here. I find it helpful to find a circle of friends that are on the same journey. Get together and brainstorm how you all can take your gifts and talents and share them with the world. Hold each other accountable with tasks of not only designing your goals and working to achieve them, but continuing to do your spiritual and emotional work. Act as one another's support and put your all into whatever it is that you do. This is how you let your light shine. It takes a village, but you can and will see it through.

We are all a part of the same village, we have just forgotten that fact. Seeing your dreams become a reality is the stuff of magic and we want to see it happen and help in any way that we can. The journey starts at the beginning, and the brilliant truth is that it is never to early or to late to make it happen. It doesn't matter what you've gone through or may be going through now, where there's a will, there's a way. Be confident in your magic and share your light with the world. You deserve success and it is right here for the taking!
